Almonds, Apples, Apricots, Cranberries, Macadamias, Rice Bran, Sultanas etc.

Almonds - We source our almonds from South Australia. Almonds are nature's healthy snacks! They contain the 'good' monounsaturated fats, are a natural source of dietary fibre and an excellent source of the antioxidant Vitamin E.

Amaranth - Grown in northern Victoria and NSW - amaranth is high in iron, protein, and has three times the calcium of milk. It is an ancient grain, originally grown by the Aztecs. It has the highest level of protein of any grain - the quality of this protein is even better than soybeans. Amaranth is gluten free and has no cholesterol.

Apple - Our dried apple is an excellent source of soluble and insoluble fibre. Apples contain antioxidant phytonutrients, which help fight the damaging effects of LDL (bad) cholesterol. In addition, apples contain the essential trace element, boron, which has been shown to strengthen bones - a good defense against osteoporosis.

Apricots - These dried apricots come from Australia's Murrumbidgee region. They are rich in potassium, soluble fibre and beta-carotene. The high beta-carotene and lycopene activity of apricots makes them important heart health foods. Both beta-carotene and lycopene protect LDL cholesterol from oxidation, which may help prevent heart disease.
Apricots contain nutrients such as vitamin A that promotes good vision.

Barley Flakes - One of oldest cultivated plants in world. Barley is a rich source of fiber including both soluble and insoluble fiber. The primary component in barley is the soluble fibre beta-glucan, which aids in lowering cholesterol. Our rolled barley is made from steamed pearled barley rolled into flakes. Rolled barley is very slightly darker in colour to rolled oats, but otherwise looks almost identical.

Barley Bran - Produced by milling the whole barley grain, extracting the inedible husk and sifting the bran from the flour. Barley Bran is rich in nutrients and an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fibre, high in anti oxidants.

Belgian White Chocolate - Ours is the genuine article made with cocoa butter - doesn't have a lot of health benefits but tastes absolutely delicious. It matches beautifully with the Bethonga Gold pineapple in the Walkabout mix. Remember everything in moderation and keep a balanced diet combined with regular exercise.

Belgian Dark Chocolate - Chock full of potent antioxidants called phenols, the same as those found in wine. One -third of the fat in chocolate is a cholesterol-friendly fat called stearic acid, and another third is an unsaturated fat called oleic acid. Dark chocolate contains more phenols than other forms of chocolate.

Black Pepper - Our black pepper is grown in southern Queensland. It comes from the pepper plant, which produces peppercorn berries. Black pepper stimulates the taste buds and helps improve digestion.

Buckwheat - Buckwheat is not a wheat. The plant is more bush -like than the tall slender stalks of most grains. It is actually a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel and is gluten free and an excellent source of protein, essential amino acids, and minerals. High in potassium and phosphorus and contains vastly more vitamin B than wheat.

Bush Tomato - Bush Tomato is a berry fruit from a small shrub, which grows in Central Australia - the fruit is left on the bush to dry before picking. A rich source of minerals, particularly potassium, they are also high in vitamin C. The traditional harvesting method is to collect the sun dried fruits of the small bush in the autumn and winter months.

Cinnamon - One of the oldest spices know to man, cinnamon has a long history both as a spice and as a medicine. It is the brown bark of the cinnamon tree, which is available in its dried tubular form known as a quill or as ground powder.
Cinnamon is a warm and fragrant addition to foods.  Containing many vitamins and minerals it therefore comes with a great deal of health benefits, ranging from being an all -natural anti inflammatory to being able to assist with lowering blood sugar levels.

Coconut - Coconut is the only natural source of beneficial Lauric acid other than human breast milk. It has been demonstrated to strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, and protect against bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Our coconut has been dried and shredded which intensifies its delicious flavour.

Cranberries - Cranberry is a native North American fruit. It is a small, red berry, which grows on low -hanging vines. High in phytonutrients & antioxidants. Cranberries have also been valued for hundreds of years for their ability to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections.

Currants - Our naturally dried currants come from the Barossa Valley, nutrient rich they are an essential source of vitamins A, C. A natural energy boost they also contain many phytonutrients, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and minerals.

Golden Flaxseed - With it's delicious nutty taste, golden flaxseed is one of the most concentrated plant sources of omega-3 fats. Flaxseeds contain 50 to 60 per cent omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha linolenic acid. Golden flaxseed is rich in antioxidants, B vitamins, dietary fibre, a group of phytoestrogens called lignans, protein and potassium. Its high fibre content is beneficial for heart health, and the fact that they are a rich source of omega -3 fatty acids can help lower blood cholesterol and blood pressure. Golden flax seed helps you keep them feeling full and satisfied between meals.

Honey - Honey is a natural source of energy for the body, high in natural antioxidants. Honey is high in glucose and fructose. These sugars are quickly absorbed, providing the body with boost of energy. Honey is rich in vitamins, amino acids, calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc, all of which are essential to good health.

Kashmiri Chilli - Kashmiri Chilli is one of the reddest chillies, known for its spiciness and colour. Chilli contains a substance called capsaicin, which gives peppers their hot taste when eaten. Capsaicin seems to have anti -inflammatory properties and can increase circulation of blood to peripheral tissues, ensuring that nutrients are delivered to needy areas.

Lemon Myrtle - Lemon Myrtle is a beautiful Australian shrub native to coastal areas of northern NSW and home of Brookfarm. It grows up to 3 meters high, with graceful hanging branches of soft green leaves. The Lemon Myrtle leaf is full of essential oils and has a soft lemon tang and fragrant aroma.

Macadamia Nuts - Macadamia nuts are an excellent source of protein, calcium, potassium, dietary fibre and anti-oxidants. High in protein, fibre, plant sterols and vitamin E they are also very low in sodium. All these are essential for good health and well -being. Recent research from Newcastle University and the Wesley Hospital, Brisbane shows that monounsaturated fats can assist in lowering blood cholesterol levels and reducing the incidence of heart disease and strokes. Just 40gm of macadamias daily can actively reduce the risk of heart disease. In clinical testing, a balanced diet supplemented with macadamias has been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels by around 5-7%.

Macadamia Oil - Macadamia Oil is cholesterol -free and is the richest source of monounsaturates, 10 % higher than Extra Virgin Olive oil. Macadamia Oil contains no trans fatty acids. The oils in macadamia are: 84% monounsaturated, and 3.5% polyunsaturated.12.5% saturated - the monounsaturated portion contains oleic fatty acid plus the highest known level of paimitoleic fatty acid, which is also present in beneficial fish oils, and may be nutritionally significant.

Millet - Millet is gluten free and is considered to be one of the least allergenic and most digestible grains available. Millet is tasty, with a mildly sweet, nut-like flavor and contains a myriad of beneficial nutrients. It is nearly 15% protein, contains high amounts of fiber, B -complex vitamins including niacin, thiamin, and riboflavin, the essential amino acid methionine, lecithin, and some vitamin E. It is particularly high in the minerals iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium. Considered a warming grain it helps to heat the body in cold or rainy seasons and climates.

Mountain Pepper - Mountain Pepper is a small tree found in southeastern New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Mountain Pepper plants feature heavily in indigenous traditional uses. Both the berry and the leaf are used in cooking and medicinally.

Muscatel Grapes - The Muscat grape is the world's oldest known grape variety. The grapes are naturally dried and contain seeds. Studies have found grape seeds to be one of the best antioxidants and suggest grape seed may help improve blood circulation, prevent atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries), lower blood pressure and improve blood cholesterol levels.

Oats - Oats are a good source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Oats supply many nutrients including vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, manganese and magnesium. Oats are also a good source of protein. Rolled oats are traditionally oat groats that have been rolled into flat flakes under heavy rollers.

Oat Bran - Oat bran is the edible, outermost layer of the oat kernel, which protects the grain before it germinates. Rich in soluble fibre (beta glucan) it can help lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease. Oat bran is obtained from the normal milling process of oats.

Pineapple - Our pineapple comes from Queensland and is naturally dried. Pineapple is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Its nutrients include calcium, potassium, fiber, and vitamin C. Pineapples are rich in manganese, a trace mineral that is needed for your body to build bone and connective tissues. Just one cup of pineapple provides 73% of the daily-recommended amount of manganese.

Pistachios - The pistachio nut is a member of the cashew family. Pistachios are cholesterol-free and high in monounsaturated fat. Pistachios are a good source of protein, copper, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and B6. The nuts deliver 30 vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients.

Puffed Brown Rice - Puffed brown rice is an excellent source of essential vitamins and minerals including, magnesium, B vitamins and iron. Rice is gluten free and cholesterol free.

Pumpkin Kernels - Pumpkin kernels also known as pepitas, are flat, dark green seeds. Pumpkins, and their seeds, were a celebrated food of the Native American Indians who treasured them both for their dietary and medicinal properties. They are a rich source of iron, protein and magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc.

Quinoa - Quinoa (pronounced Keen-Wah) is often referred to as a grain, it is in fact a seed.  Botanically it’s related to spinach, beetroot and chard.  Quinoa is an excellent source of complete protein and contains all 9 essential amino acids, important for the growth of tissues and their repair mechanism. High in fibre it is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, and zinc.  Quinoa is gluten-free and is easily digested for optimal absorption of nutrients. It has slow releasing, high level carbohydrates, that sustain and keep you satisfied between meals.

Raw Sugar - Unrefined raw sugar is made from the juice from the sugar cane plant and has trace minerals and nutrients present. Raw sugar contains roughly eleven calories per teaspoon and has the same vitamin and mineral consistency that is found in the juice from the sugarcane plant. These minerals include phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium.

Rice Bran - Rice bran is an all-natural food separated during the rice milling process. It is high in dietary fibre, high -quality protein, and has a complete profile of essential amino acids, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, and more than 100 antioxidants.

Rye - Rye is a wholegrain that is an excellent source of both insoluble and soluble dietary fibre (about 16g per 100g), thus it has a role in promoting good bowel and heart health. Rich in B-vitamins, rye contains generous amounts of iron, calcium, phosphorus and potassium and also has the highest amount of lysine of all grains. Among grains, rye has the highest content of lignans (phytoestrogens). Evidence suggests that high intakes of lignans help maintain digestive and heart health. This high -protein, low -gluten grain is more slowly digested than other grains.

Sea Salt - Sea Salt is obtained from solar evaporation of seawater and is entirely different from modern refined salt, and it contains a variety of minerals, potassium and sodium that play a role in keeping the body's electrolytes in a healthy balance.

Soy Flour - This full fat soy flour made from steamed pure, non GMO, dehulled soybeans has a creamy fawn colour, with a nutty flavour. Soy flour is a complete protein and is rich in vitamins and minerals. High in folate and potassium.

Sunflower Seeds - Sunflower kernels are the edible heart of the sunflower seed. They are an excellent source of vitamins E and B1, manganese, magnesium, selenium, vitamin B5 and healthy fibers. They are a good source of phytochemicals (non -nutrient plant chemicals) that can be protective against disease.

Sultanas - These naturally dried sultanas are produced from the Thompson seedless or Menindee seedless variety of grapes. High in energy and nutrient rich they are an essential source of vitamins A, C and P (bioflavonoids) and trace elements such as germanium and selenium.

Tapioca - Tapioca is a starch derived from the cassava plant. It's often used to thicken soups and sweeten the flavor of baked goods, and it makes a delicious pudding.

Wheatgerm - Wheatgerm is the smallest part of the whole wheat grain. It is packed with nutrients - protein, fiber, unsaturated fat, vitamin E, vitamin B1 B2, B6, phosphorus, zinc, thiamine, magnesium and pantothenic acid. Wheatgerm provides more nutrients per ounce than any other grain or vegetable.
